“I tell him I drove to Montreal in 2000 or so to see JSBX at the Spectrum. “How was it,” he asks, “any good?” I tell him that 15 minutes into the show I said to Mrs. Big Beat, “Holy (expletive), that was the greatest 15 minutes of rock and roll I’ve ever seen in a club.”

He nicely says thanks for that, and adds that though some things have probably changed in the 13 years since, “I think our spirit, our passion, are largely undiminished.””
