“What did they give us? They gave us rock ‘n’ roll. I always cite Little Richard as an example. Little Richard was a pioneer—the “Queen” of rock ‘n’ roll. He was a Black man, but also a drag queen and bisexual. The current administration is trying to eliminate people like that entirely. They want to erase, exclude, and deny anyone who is different from them. I can’t stand for that. Rock ‘n’ roll wouldn’t exist without “the other”—without that element of difference. This interview, and even *Rolling Stone Japan* itself, wouldn’t exist. The world would surely be a much more boring place than it is now.”

“彼らは何を与えてくれたのか？　ロックンロールを与えてくれたんだ。俺はいつもリトル・リチャードを例に挙げている。リトル・リチャードは創始者、ロックンロールの“女王”だ。彼は黒人男性だったが、ドラァグクイーンでもあり、バイセクシャルでもあった。今の政権はそういう存在をすべて排除しようとしているんだよ。自分たちとは違う人たちを抹消して、排除して、否定しようとしている。俺にとってそれは我慢ならないことなんだ。“異質なもの”がなければロックンロールは存在しないからね。このインタビューだって、Rolling Stone Japanだって存在しなかっただろう。きっと、世界が今よりもずっと退屈な場所になっていたはずだ。”
