Japanese Popstars single commercially issued as a three-track coloured vinyl 12″ single and download. Destroy appears on the album Controlling Your Allegiance and features Jon Spencer on vocals.
This has the same track listing as the download EP. The only commercially released physical format was the three track 12″ which did not include the remixes. NEWS: 2 June 2010: “Just a heads up to make you aware that the release of ‘Destroy’ has been pushed back to the 1st of July because we are planning a limited edition coloured 12″ vinyl release of the track with TWO NEW Popstars tracks called ‘My Bubbles’ and ‘Evidently’. The video is almost ready to be unleashed and it looks AMAZING!! We are very excited to have a video of this calibre with the legendary Jon Spencer starring in it.” “A new signing for EMI that we’re very excited about is The Japanese Popstars, a trio from Northern Ireland who have spent the last 18 months touring the world and winning huge numbers of fans to their sparkling electronic dance music. Hailed as the rightful heirs to the likes of Underworld, Leftfield, The Chemical Brothers and Orbital, Decky, Gary and Galo’s debut album ‘We Just Are’ attracted huge critical acclaim (eg ‘Literally amazing’, ‘The most exciting new electronic act on the planet’, ‘F**king amazing’) and led to them performing their stunning live sets at Glastonbury, Ultra Festival, Fabric, Rockness, Fuji Rock and Planet Love among many others. This summer’s festivals include Bestival, Creamfields, Parklife, Electric Picnic and Rockness. New single ‘Destroy’ is released by Virgin Records on May 30. Featuring vocals by Jon Spencer (of the Blues Explosion) the single paves the way for the band’s second album which is due out in the summer. ” – http://www.emimusic.com/ 24 January 2020: “Another absolute highlight of my career was collaborating with Jon Spencer who provides vocals on Destroy. We emailed him the demo of Destroy and labeled it ‘Destroy Jon Spencer’, so apparently when he received the email he wasn’t sure if he should open it in case it destroyed his computer He was also the only artists who sang for us that stared in the video and it’s one of my favourite music videos we did as The Japanese Popstars. So much character, so much cool and check his brown paper bag” – Last Survivor (formerly of The Japanese Popstars) |
