This collection takes the traditional music video further out of the commercial real, going in to the heart and soul of the medium and against the usual video-commissioning methods, where multiple directors are asked to pitch their ideas against each other with one eventual winner. Coldcut specifically chose one director to be invited – like a guest vocalist or musician – to add their creativity to each track the directors visually interpreted the track in their own unique way without direction from Coldcut or Ninja Tune. it’s the director’s creativity as an individual artist in their own right that is under the spotlight here. We hope you enjoy this diverse body of music videos. They represent a wide range of international directors from the established to the brand new, resulting in a myriad of styles, techniques and un-fettered creativity.”
