“Liat band ini live di Enmore Thetare Sydney, AU 31 Maret 1999. Mereka lagi tur utk promosi album terbaru Acme. Udah ngebet bgt gw liat live nya krn Jon Spencer terkenal dengan aksi panggung yg rusuh. Termasuk bareng band pertamanya Pussy Galore yg gak kalah brutal. Dan malam itu dia tidak mengecewakan fans-nya sama sekali. Ini adalah salah satu gig yg merubah hidup gw.
Walopun format trio (tanpa bass), tapi sound yg keluar superloud & tajam, bener2 nusuk telinga. Jon Spencer sendiri tampil pake baju overall kulit hitam ala Elvis comeback 1967 (spt yg video diatas) dan dengan liar menjelajah setiap sudut panggung. Gw ngeliatnya kyk macan panther lg cari mangsa.
Di jeda lagu dia smpt ngingetin klo misi band nya ngbawa rock n roll kembali buat ‘wipe out lame-ass band like REM or Limp Bizkit’ katanya. Lalu mengejek2 penonton dan hampir terlibat adu jotos sama sekuriti.
Momen hacep nya terjadi ketika diakhir encore dia tiba-tiba aja ngebakar backdrop raksasa dgn tulisan JSBX (anagram band) ditengah2 lagu. Ini jelas diluar skenario krn kru panggung dan sekuriti kontan kelabakan padamin api pake tabung pemadam. Sementara Jon Spencer dengan cuek kembali main nerusin manggung.

The highlights of this quote in English are; “This is one of the gigs that changed my life.”, “In the middle of the song, he reminded me that the band’s mission was to bring rock n roll back…Then mocked the audience and almost got into a fist fight with security.” and “at the end of the encore he suddenly burned a giant backdrop with the words JSBX (anagram band) in the middle of the song. This was clearly beyond the scenario because the stage crew and security were in a rush to extinguish the fire using fire extinguishers. Meanwhile, Jon Spencer nonchalantly returned to playing and continued the gig.”
